Defying the NCAA, California To Allow College Athletes To Make Money From Endorsements
California made history today. The state’s Governor, Gavin Newsom signed a bill allowing NCAA student athletes to make money off of their own name, image and likeness. The bill was signed despite protests from the NCAA which warned the measure would upend amateur sports. The Fair Pay To Play Act, likely will not take effect until 2023.
