A WOMAN walking home in the Toowoomba City was punched and robbed of her handbag by two men who followed her in an SUV.
The frightening ordeal unfolded on Boulton Terrace near Campbell St about 8.25pm.
Toowoomba Criminal Investigation Branch Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Brian Collins said the woman was walking home with a man when a dark-coloured SUV pulled up behind them.
A man got out of the vehicle and approached the pair, who are Buddhists, and snatched the woman’s handbag from her shoulder.
“The woman was also assaulted during the stealing,” Snr Sgt Collins said.
The woman was punched in the face and required treatment at hospital.
She suffered minor injuries.

The bag-snatcher then ran back to the vehicle in which another man had remained, and the pair fled the scene in an easterly direction on Campbell St.
“We’re asking any witnesses in the area to notify us,” Snr Sgt Collins said.
The SUV was described as dark blue or black in colour, with at least two men inside.
Anyone with information is urged to phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
The incident was one of two reported in the area around the same time but are not believed to be linked.
